The government has revoked all existing personal firearm permits in Ghana and announced a tougher licensing regime that will require mental health assessments, drug screening and mandatory firearms training before new permits are issued. Forty-two South African nationals have been deported from Ireland, a development that lands with sharp irony given South Africa’s own recent posture toward foreign nationals living within its borders.
