The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Akosombo Hotels Limited have launched a new heritage tourism package aimed at connecting Ghana’s history with leisure experiences.
The “Heritage to Leisure Tour” will link visitors to the memorial park in Accra with key sites in Akosombo, including the Volta Hotel and the Akosombo Dam, one of the major development projects associated with Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
The initiative was unveiled during a partnership signing ceremony held at the premises of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

General Manager of Akosombo Hotels Limited, Stephen Ofori, said the partnership seeks to connect the story of Dr Nkrumah’s vision with the tourism opportunities around Akosombo.
He said visitors would have the opportunity to learn about Nkrumah’s contributions at the memorial park and also experience the projects and scenery linked to his development agenda.

The Executive Director of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Dr Collins Rawlings Nunyonameh, said the partnership would help increase visitor numbers, generate revenue and strengthen efforts to preserve and share the story of Ghana’s first President.
He said the collaboration with Akosombo Hotels was strategic because the Volta Hotel and the Akosombo Dam formed part of Dr Nkrumah’s vision for economic independence and industrial growth.
Board Chair of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Anne Sackey, described the initiative as a way of connecting different parts of Nkrumah’s legacy while increasing awareness and keeping his story alive.
Member of Parliament for Guan Constituency, Fred Agbenyo, welcomed the partnership, saying tourism remains a sector with the potential to support Ghana’s economic transformation.
The organisers say the Heritage to Leisure Tour is expected to promote domestic tourism and encourage visitors to explore Ghana’s historical and cultural landmarks.
