Reports emerging from Canada have alleged that some supporters and organisations that purchased tickets through the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the Black Stars’ opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup are experiencing difficulties accessing their tickets.
According to sources familiar with the matter, several individuals who secured tickets through the official GFA allocation process claim they have been unable to retrieve them. The sources further allege that a GFA official has withheld some of the tickets and redistributed them to associates. Voices of Concern has not independently verified these claims.
Among those said to be affected is Ghanaian businessman Kennedy Agyapong, popularly known as Kenpong, whose company, Kenpong Travel and Tours, reportedly arranged travel packages for hundreds of Ghanaian supporters travelling to Canada in their private capacity.
Sources close to Mr. Agyapong claim he is frustrated over the situation and believes the difficulties have affected his company’s ability to provide tickets to clients who booked through the travel agency.
The sources further allege that Mr. Agyapong ordered the tickets more than five months ago and that the allocation was intended for supporters travelling with his company.
They also claim that despite interventions involving senior GFA officials, including GFA President Kurt Okraku, the issue has not been fully resolved. According to the sources, Mr. Agyapong ultimately received fewer than 30 tickets despite having paid for 100. Voices of Concern has not independently verified the contents of the alleged ticket allocation or related correspondence.
The sources further claim that Mr. Agyapong has since travelled from Canada to Germany and is considering legal action against the GFA official they accuse of mishandling the ticket allocation.
The Ghana Football Association has not publicly responded to these allegations at the time of publication.
The Black Stars are scheduled to begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama in Group H of the tournament, being hosted across Canada, the United States and Mexico.
