New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has made one thing clear from the start. Results will define his time with Ghana.
At his first media engagement after his unveiling, the Portuguese coach said the expectations around the national team leave little room for anything else. In his view, football is driven by outcomes, and for Ghana, that means winning.
He described the job as the biggest challenge of his career, pointing to the pressure that comes with leading a team followed so closely by its people.
His immediate focus, he said, is the upcoming game against Panama. The target is simple. Start with a win and build from there.
While he stopped short of making bold promises, Queiroz said supporters can expect commitment, discipline and proper preparation from his team.
Players, he added, will be required to give everything on the pitch and leave each match knowing they have represented the country well.
He also addressed the makeup of the squad, acknowledging the presence of experienced and confident players. According to him, such personalities are part of modern football, but they must be brought together into one functioning unit.
To achieve that, the coach said he and his technical team are already tracking players across different leagues, with plans to build a competitive squad based on performance and readiness.
