Newly inducted leaders of the Ghana Scout Association have been urged to rebuild the strength and relevance of the movement through unity, commitment, and stronger public visibility.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a three-day training and induction in Accra, immediate past Chair of the African Scout Foundation, Jemima Nartey, stressed that scouting is a voluntary service that demands honesty, discipline, and hard work.
She reminded the new executives and board members that taking up leadership in scouting is not just a title, but the beginning of a responsibility to shape young people into responsible adults and contribute to national development.
According to her, the success of the association depends heavily on teamwork. She encouraged leaders to support one another, especially in difficult moments, noting that some members may lose momentum along the way and would need encouragement to stay on course.
She also emphasized the need for a positive attitude in leadership, explaining that scouting thrives on passion and a genuine desire to serve.
Madam Nartey further called for stronger visibility for the scouting movement, urging leaders to project the work of the association in a way that earns public trust and attracts more young people.
She noted that transparency, especially in dealing with schools and parents, will be key to growing membership and sustaining the movement.
The induction formed part of efforts to equip the new leadership with the values and direction needed to reposition scouting in Ghana.
