Fanaka International University College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Investment and Securities Institute (GISI) to strengthen professional training and prepare finance graduates for careers in Ghana’s capital market and beyond.
The partnership will support Fanaka’s Master of Science (MSc) in Finance programme through curriculum alignment, practitioner engagement, professional development and research collaboration.
Rector of Fanaka International University College, Professor Samuel Agyei-Ampomah, said the agreement was intended to address the gap between academic knowledge and the practical skills required in the financial services industry.
He said the partnership would help students gain industry-relevant training and prepare them for professional practice, while giving them access to developments in investment, corporate governance and digital finance.
“True academic excellence must be measured by market readiness, and a postgraduate degree should not merely be a credential on a wall, but a powerful catalyst for career development,” Professor Agyei-Ampomah said.

Chief Executive Officer of GISI, Alexander Williams, said the agreement would combine academic training with practical experience from professionals in the securities industry.
He said the collaboration would also help students understand their professional career options and pursue relevant qualifications through GISI’s training pathways.
GISI provides professional training in securities and investments, including programmes linked to the requirements of Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the UK-based Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).
Mr Williams said students who pursue the relevant professional pathway could obtain a qualification carrying both GISI and CISI recognition, potentially widening their opportunities in international financial markets, subject to the applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
He said the institute’s collaboration with CISI was designed to equip practitioners with technical knowledge and high ethical standards in securities and investments.
The agreement is expected to strengthen links between the university and the securities industry, with both institutions seeking to improve professional development and build capacity in Ghana’s financial sector.
