Ghana, Sierra Leone and Germany are set to be connected through the 2027 edition of the Gergansal Arts Exhibition, an initiative aimed at promoting African art and culture to international audiences.
The exhibition was officially launched in Accra, with organisers calling for greater support for African arts and cultural expression. The event is scheduled to take place in Germany in April 2027.
Speaking at the media launch, Abdul Fadul Kamara, Project Coordinator for Europe, said the initiative was created to bridge the gap between Africa and Europe in the promotion and appreciation of art and culture.
“The main brain behind the event was to break the gap between Europe and Africa when it comes to arts and culture. Africa is not well represented in Europe with regards to art, and it is about time that we sell our beautiful arts to the outside world,” he said.
Kamara said the exhibition provides an opportunity to showcase African artistic works to a wider audience and strengthen cultural connections between the two continents.
Kwasi Owusu-Afrifa, the project’s Africa Coordinator, appealed to corporate organisations to support the initiative to ensure its sustainability and expand opportunities for African artists.
He expressed optimism that the 2027 edition would help strengthen cultural ties between Africa and Europe while increasing the visibility of African art on the international stage.
Owusu-Afrifa disclosed that Ghana would be represented by two artists, Edwin Adokwei Boye and Putin Ofori Bempong.
The exhibition forms part of efforts to promote African creativity beyond the continent and create greater international exposure for its artists and cultural heritage.
