A Supreme Court judge, Yonny Kulendi, has underscored the growing importance of migration to global economies, describing it as a key driver of development across countries.
He made these remarks in Accra at the launch of a new book, The Immigration Formulae: Rules, Packaging & Strategy, written by lawyer Wonder Victor Kutor. The event took place at the Ghana Shippers Authority in Ridge.
Justice Kulendi explained that migration continues to play a critical role in filling labour gaps, particularly in countries with ageing populations. He noted that it not only supports workforce expansion but also fuels innovation and economic activity in both destination and home countries.
He pointed out that migrants contribute significantly through remittances and the transfer of skills, adding that global remittance flows hit approximately 905 billion dollars in 2024. According to him, this reflects how deeply migration is tied to economic growth worldwide.
He further stressed the need for reliable information on migration, saying such resources help individuals make informed choices when seeking opportunities abroad.
Speaking after the launch, the author, Wonder Victor Kutor, said the book was written to address the lack of clear guidance available to many people trying to travel, study or work outside their home countries.
He explained that while many applicants focus heavily on securing visas, a visa does not automatically guarantee entry. Final decisions, he said, are made by immigration officers at the point of entry.
Mr. Kutor added that the book breaks down key immigration rules, documentation requirements and practical strategies applicants need when presenting their cases to embassies and consulates.
He also warned against providing false information during visa applications, cautioning that misrepresentation can result in long-term bans.
The publication includes 37 real-life exhibits aimed at helping readers better understand immigration procedures and documentation, offering practical support for students, professionals and travellers seeking opportunities abroad.
