Akosua Manu Praises Interior Minister Over Security Recruitment Process
Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Manu, has praised Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak for what she described as a fair recruitment process into Ghana’s security services.
Her comments come after the minister provided an update on the ongoing recruitment exercise on Wednesday, March 11.
Mr Mohammed-Mubarak revealed that more than 105,000 applicants have successfully passed the online aptitude tests and will proceed to the medical stage of the process. However, he noted that only 5,000 positions are currently available.
“The total number we can take after medicals is 5,000, so we still face a huge challenge,” the minister told journalists.
He urged applicants who may not be selected this year to remain patient.
Mr Mohammed-Mubarak also disclosed that President John Mahama has directed that data of all candidates who pass their medical examinations be retained. According to the minister, this will create a pool of qualified applicants for future recruitment exercises.
“The President has instructed that those who qualify and pass medicals, let’s keep their data,” he said.
He added that once the country’s fiscal situation improves and constraints from the IMF programme ease, another recruitment phase could take place in 2026 using the same pool of candidates.
Reacting to the development on X, Akosua Manu commended the minister for what she described as a merit-based recruitment process.
“Putting Ghana first! Thank you Minister! The very finest should be recruited within our security services and it should not be based on party colours! Quality representation!” she wrote.
