Tiffany Haddish is an American comedian and actress known for her breakout role in the hit film Girls Trip and for becoming the second Black woman to win a Grammy for Best Comedy Album. She gained public attention for her hilarious and unfiltered stand-up comedy, culminating in becoming a cover model for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2026.

Quick Facts

Full Name: Tiffany Sara Cornilia Haddish
Age: 46 (born December 3, 1979)
Nationality: American
Occupation: Comedian, Actress, Author
Known For: Girls Trip; Grammy-winning album Black Mitzvah; Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model
Marital Status: Divorced (William Stewart, 2008-2013)
Children: None

Early Life and Background

Haddish was born in Los Angeles, California. Her early life was marked by significant hardship: her father left when she was three, and her mother suffered severe brain damage in a car accident when Tiffany was nine. This led to Haddish and her siblings entering the foster care system. A social worker suggested she apply to the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp, which became her “safe space” and launched her comedic career.

Career and Achievements

Haddish’s career breakthrough came in 2017 with Girls Trip. Despite the film grossing over $140 million worldwide, she revealed she earned only about $80,000 for the role, though the exposure proved priceless. Her performance earned her a hosting gig on Saturday Night Live, for which she won an Emmy Award, making her the first Black female stand-up comedian to host the show.

She is also a New York Times best-selling author for her memoir The Last Black Unicorn . In 2021, she won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for Black Mitzvah, joining Whoopi Goldberg as the only Black women to achieve that honor. As of 2026, her net worth is estimated at $6 million.

Major Event or Controversy

In 2022, Haddish and comedian Aries Spears were sued over a 2014 comedy sketch titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes”. The accuser alleged the sketch, which she participated in as a teenager, constituted grooming and abuse. Haddish stated on social media that while the sketch was “intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all,” adding, “I deeply regret having agreed to act in it”. The accuser later dropped the lawsuit.

Why She Is In the News

Haddish is currently trending as one of the four cover stars for the 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The comedian, 46, was photographed by James Macari in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Reflecting on the experience, she told People that it “got me in tune with listening to my body,” adding “my body popped into alignment and did everything it was instructed to do”. The cover has been a lifelong dream; she admitted she used to think she would be on the cover as a track star for being the “highest jumper of all time”.

Conclusion

Tiffany Haddish is a resilient force in entertainment who turned a difficult childhood into award-winning comedy. From her Grammy-winning stand-up to shattering body standards on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she continues to break barriers and embrace joy in her 40s.
